Have you considered refurbishing your old furniture?
Refurbishing furniture involves restoring an old or damaged piece to its former glory or giving it a new look.
This is a service we offer to our clients in Singapore - it takes usually 2 to 3 days from collection to delivery, and the work is done in our workshop in Kaki Bukit.
Here is a general guide on how we refurbish furniture:
-
Preparation: Start by cleaning the piece thoroughly and removing any dirt, grime, or old finish. Sand the surface to remove any rough spots and make it smooth.
-
Repair: Fix any structural issues, such as loose joints or broken legs, by gluing, nailing, or screwing them back in place. Fill in any cracks or dents with wood filler and sand it down once it has dried.
-
Painting or Staining: Choose the type of finish you want for your furniture, such as paint, stain, or varnish. If we are painting, we need to prime the surface first. Apply the paint or stain in thin, even coats, making sure to allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
5. Finishing Touches: Finally, apply a topcoat of varnish to protect the surface and give it a glossy finish. You can also add decorative elements, such as stenciling or decoupage, to make the piece truly unique.
These are the steps we follow to refurbish a piece of furniture to give it a new lease on life. We work patiently and carefully, and to let each step dry thoroughly before moving on to the next.
